About the event
CALABAR IMPORTS has three Brooklyn-based stores including the POPUP in Bed-Stuy at 351 Tompkins Avenue with diverse programming including WORDS SUNDAY that adds a distinctive literary flavor to a mix of art, clothing jewelry, gifts for discerning and adventurous consumers. In the fall 2015, WORDS SUNDAYS will return with six events in its ambitious showcase of distinguished, award-winning and critically acclaimed poets and performers who just happen to live and work in Central Brooklyn. WORDS SUNDAY is one more indication of Brooklyn’s central role in Metro New York’s culture and will afford audiences a chance to discover new talent or hear favorites in a colorful and dynamic setting. Curated and hosted by award-winning poet Patricia Spears Jones, WORDS SUNDAY celebrates Brooklyn’s diversity bringing together aesthetically varied writers from a variety of backgrounds—gay and straight; Black and White; native-born and immigrant. Each of these writers and performers, emerging or long-established are writers and performers you will want to see and hear.
