This event is a non profit 501(c)(3) Korean pop dance showcase that will be held on November 14th in Lakewood, Colorado. The purpose of this showcase is let people who enjoy Korean pop music or formally known as Kpop come together and celebrate our love by showcasing some of the Kpop choreography. Prime example would be BTS, the Korean boy group that won the Top Social Artist award at the Billboard Awards this past year. The non profit 501(c)(3) Organization working this showcase is called Aurora Sister Cities International. The purpose of this organizatiom is to set up sister cities in different countries by connnecting with the government and businesses. They are also helping the youth of Colorado and the youth of the sister cities get extra educational opportunities. Aurora Sister Cities is currently working with Seongnam, South Korea to become a sister city. We are doing this showcase as a way to help connect with South Korea and show our apperciation for their culture.
There are three reasons. One is to help the youth of Colorado ranging from 14-25 express their love and apperciation for the Korean Culture by dancing Korean Pop songs or formerly known as Kpop. We are always seen as different for liking Kpop even though we are american. Its just so different from the norm that some people have a hard time grasping why we like it so much. We wanted to show people just how fun Kpop can be and make them understand what it means to us. Reason number two is there is a non-profit organization in Colorado called Aurora Sister Cities International that is currently in the process of setting up a sister city for City of Aurora in South Korea, The chosen city is Seongnam, South Korea and they are looking for Buisness and Educational opportunities with the City of Aurora. We were going to use this showcase as a way to show that we apperciate that Seongnam wants to be a sister city with us. The third reason is to get Colorado's name out there for future Kpop events. A lot of Kpop singers go on tour in America and the turnout is always great since people travel from all over the country to see them in whatever city they're having their concert in. We hope that with us connecting with Seongnam will bring more opportunities to having a Kpop singer visit Colorado. It would be a dream come true for us.
Hello My name is Aeseret Huguley,
I am 25 years old and having been living in Colorado my whole life I am a huge fan of Kpop. I am currently working as a customer service agent at Frontier Airlines and on the weekend I help plan and set up events for the facebook group I help my best friend Marta Ramirez run. Its called Colorado Kpop Fans and we have 416 members currently. For the facebook group we are the event planners as well. We always try to plan events for all of us in the group to get know each other and become friends outside of facebook. I also work with the Aurora Sister Cities Organization from the City of Aurora. It is a non profit organization that sets up Sister Cities in ohter countries. Currently we are working on sending 13 Colorado student to South Korea for an youth delegation conference. Lastly I will be dancing in this showcase as well. This will be our first big event and we want nothing more than it work successfully. All of us working for the showcase will not be making any profit from this dance showcase. Any proceeds will go to paying for the venue and making promotional items.
