About the event

Love is Respect tells the story of a teenage girl named Carmen who has found herself in an unhealthy relationship. Her struggle to not only keep her secret, but to maintain the facade that things are wonderful with Tyler spirals out of control unexpectedly. Hospitalized, confused and lonely, she reaches out to her best friend who refuses to allow the charade to continue. This play is about seeing the signs and responding to domestic violence as a collective community. Everyone is searching for a solution on how to address the complexities of teen domestic violence. This play is a must-see for all ages!

Love is Respect is an original play that promotes teen domestic violence awareness. I am proud to produce this script because I want to educate people on what to do if they find themselves or someone they know in an unhealthy relationship. Domestic violence is something we all know about, but I find it to be a topic that is both overlooked and minimized. I would like to bring awareness to the importance of one’s safety and to emphasize to say something when you see something. I believe we need to teach young people to love themselves and to see the red flags when they arise.

I have founded TRA to help create jobs for other artists as well as myself. With that being said, I need your help! In order to successfully produce Love is Respect, it will require financial contributions. The proceeds from your sponsorship will have multiple benefits such as; providing a pay rate for the artists involved in Love is Respect and attaining the supplies needed to create props, sets and costumes for the show.
