About the event

Hello! Thank you for showing interest in THE MIC IS OPEN. My name is Dabriel Renee and I am originally from Baltimore Maryland. I relocated to New York to obtain my BA in communications. A couple years later I launched THE MIC IS OPEN in Manhattan, New York! 5 years later the vision of creating a pure platform for emerging artists to build their brand and connect with key influencers in music, the arts, and slam poetry is still going strong. With the help of countless artist, authors and music executives, and poets, I have been able to build a solid foundation for artist development and branding. 


I started with a concept where I wanted to give emerging artists a platform to LIVE their BEST LIFE and The Mic Is Open does that with every showcase that I provide. 

Self funded, it gets extremely hard for me to finance my own events. Planning an event is a challenge and if you are not always financially stable, things will take a toll. The audience is there but the finances are not. 300 plus people come out to support THE MIC IS OPEN. Venues in Manhattan are not reasonable enough for me and they often exceed my budget. I currently do not have the funds or the proper resources to continue my showcase so I signed up for SPONSOR MY EVENT with hopes that someone as passionate as me will help me keep THE MIC IS OPEN LEGACY ALIVE.
