    2. Prevention of disease,

Founded in 2002, AAWP’s mission is to improve the health outcomes of African Americans and underserved communities in heart disease, asthma and diabetes, where this population suffers from acutely higher disease and death rates compared to other groups. We empower consumers through calculated messaging and strong education campaigns to take charge of their own health and help them navigate the complex health care system. Through our various programs in our “About Health” initiative including radio shows and digital media, we reach over 400,000 people and over 100,000 African Americans each week. AAWP is launching a cross-media digital presence to be the premier media communications organization in the health space for African Americans.
