  Dr. Janine Jackson

  With a diverse background in education, mentorship, community building, and coaching, Dr. Janine Jackson brings a unique blend of expertise dedicated to empowering youth and fostering positive community relationships. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a focus on Human Services, a Master’s in Forensic Psychology (2017), and a Doctorate in Forensic Psychology (2022), Dr. Jackson combines academic insight with hands-on experience to support holistic youth development.

  Growing up in Oakland, California, Dr. Jackson witnessed the deep impact of community division and rising concerns over police violence. This inspired her, alongside co-founder Zim Davies, to establish Building Bridges in 2018—an organization designed to close the gap between law enforcement and underserved communities. Through sports, mentorship, and community engagement, Building Bridges creates safe spaces where youth, families, and police can connect, build trust, and work together toward safer, healthier neighborhoods.

  At Orinda Academy, Dr. Jackson applies her talents to support student success both inside and outside the classroom. She also coaches a Bay Area women’s travel basketball team, further enriching her ability to mentor youth through athletics. She believes that combining educational support with sports mentorship has a profound impact on young people’s growth and opportunity.

  Passionate about helping each young person acquire the tools for lifelong success, Dr. Jackson is committed to expanding Building Bridges’ mission—fostering understanding, empowerment, and collaboration throughout the community.
