Sewa International USA is an organization run by dedicated volunteers, heralding from all sections of the community, working together to Serve Humanity. Our Motto is - “Service to Humanity is Service to God”. Our Mission is to fund and execute projects to serve the poor and underprivileged, regardless of color, caste, gender or religion. The New York Metro chapter of Sewa has been conducting sports tournaments for charity since 2011.
This summer, we are planning to conduct our most popular fundraising event - A tennis ball cricket tournament in Lincoln Park, Jersey City on 19th & 20th of Sep 2015. All funds generated from this tournament will go towards ‘Sponsor A Child’ - a program to help educate children from poor economic backgrounds.
Here’s a brief overview of our Cricket, Volleyball and Badminton events from 2011-15:
● Over 2000 people took part in the games, volunteering & fundraising efforts
● $120,000 was raised and the funds were promptly utilized for educating kids.
● 1400+ students benefited from our past efforts
● 40% of the students were from a tribal background whereas the remaining 60% were from rural areas with little to non-existent primary education infrastructure.

Donor Benefits:
● Publicity on our website and mailing lists; display banners or set up a stall during the event. Spread over the New York Metro Area, our participants and mailing list members hail from a wide range of professions.
● A good team-building opportunity to engage your employees in a fun-filled activity.
● Publicize your company/business on our flyers, t-shirts and other publicity material.
● Tax deductible contribution ( 501(c)(3) ) to a very effective and transparent cause.
● Get all the above benefits in addition to the satisfaction of providing the gift of education to a deserving child from a poor background.
Under the Sponsor A Child project, it costs about $240 to educate one child for a full academic year. This amount facilitates the cost of school fees, uniforms, books, bags and other basic expenses. In the case of children from tribal villages, we also partially fund their boarding expenses.

SYNOPSIS
About Sewa International USA
Sewa International USA is an international service organization based in the United States. Our Mission is to serve humanity in distress and help the local population irrespective of race, religion, sex or creed while promoting volunteering. We are a Non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization with International presence. Our Vision is to bring into practice the lofty ideal of Sanatana Dharma : “Nar Sewa is Narayan Sewa” OR “Service to Humanity is Worship of Divinity”.
Along with supporting development initiatives across the world, we have taken up several service projects in the United States. Our flagship project in the US is Bhutanese Refugee Empowerment geared towards helping the 60,000 Bhutanese Refugees in the United States. Along with this, we conduct Food Drives to help local homeless shelters and soup kitchens in cities across the US, participate in Adopt-A-Highway programs to help keep our environment clean, and run a Yuva For Sewa Internship program to allow University students to help in service projects in India and other countries. We also organize fundraising events to support development projects focusing on health care, education and women empowerment in various parts of the world.
You can find more details about us here: www.sewausa.org
In the New York Metro Area, Sewa (www.sewausa.org/nymetro) volunteers take part in community service projects like Publicolor, Adopt a Highway, Meals On Wheels, Serving at Soup Kitchens, Foodbanks and Community Parks’ cleanup. The specific cause, we chose for this fundraising effort is “Sponsor A Child”.
Under Sponsor A Child, Sewa’s partner organizations continuously collect information about students from underprivileged backgrounds, making sure to have persistent personal interaction with the students and their families (with specific emphasis on the children’s education). Because of the close interaction, the volunteers have a pretty accurate estimate of the financial requirements for providing basic education to these students. They then go ahead with various fundraising efforts to support the education of all such identified students. ‘School Kit Drive’, ‘Sponsor A Child’ or ‘Vidyachetana’ and weekend tutoring sessions are some such initiatives aimed at helping these students.
