About the event
Chrysalis Ministries lives and breathes second chances and new beginnings for individuals who have been touched by the criminal justice system - whether they were previously incarcerated themselves, a family member, or even if they spent an evening in the "drunk tank". Everyone makes mistakes and we believe it is important to provide this community with the tools to make a change.
This event is about bringing awareness to the struggles of families impacted by incarceration and raising funds to assist Chrysalis in our misison "to facilitate the personal, emotional, and spiritual transformation of incarcerated individuals, those formerly incarcerated, and their families".

Sarah MarzanoChrysalis Ministries is one of the oldest and most successful prison re-entry ministries in the state of Texas. We have been serving the incarcerated, formerly incarcerated and their families in Bexar County for 75 years with critical assistance to reenter our community. We offer critical life skills classes to include job readiness/employment assistance, healthy relationship building, money management, anger management, and domestic violence prevention, plus chaplaincy services to help break the cycle of negative behavior and criminal activity. We also offer assistance with basic necessities (a food pantry, a clothes closet for interview attire, ID cards, etc.), regular support group meetings, mental health counseling, ongoing seasonal children’s programs, and 12-step substance and theft addition recovery classes. Our collective efforts have resulted in impressive results - 91% of the over 2,000 formerly incarcerated who received our services did not get rearrested in the 2014-15 fiscal year.
