NJ 9/11 Empty Sky Memorial Walk,

About the event

Though the magnitude of the September 11th tragedy continues to affect the world, no lives have been irrevocably changed than those of the family and friends of the innocent loved ones who were killed on that day. New Jersey’s Empty Sky Memorial pays tribute and honors the New Jersey Residents who lost their lives. The Empty Sky Memorial is comprised of twin steel walls containing the names of the 749 New Jersey 9/11 residents along with a granite pathway directed towards the footprints of the World Trade Center across the Hudson River. It’s surrounded by beautiful landscaped grounds located at the foot of Audrey Zapp Drive, in Liberty State Park. The NJ 9/11 Memorial Foundation’s continual fundraising efforts helps to provide for its perpetual endowment providing ongoing care, maintenance and completion of Empty Sky’s outside steel walls. Unfortunately, The Empty Sky Memorial sustained damage to its lighting and irrigation systems during Hurricane Sandy. Our goal is to ensure that the Empty Sky Memorial is repaired and preserved so it can continue to serve as a community memorial for visitors to reflect and remember for generations to follow. On Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 10:00 am we will be hosting The Empty Sky Memorial Walk at Liberty State Park, Jersey City, New Jersey.
