Needs | Noise:  A radically inclusive theatre piece about a world where facebook likes and systematic racism receive equal attention.

We live in a frenetic age in which we are constantly bombarded with information. News headlines change every couple of seconds. Esoteric knowledge about the nature of the universe is available, bite-sized, with the tap of a finger. We communicate via sound bytes, through curated versions of ourselves on Facebook, Snapchat, and text messages. But with so much noise, how do we differentiate the genuine from the artificial?

Our production attempts to answer that question. The story is a marriage between the Little Prince and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. It follows a traveller who travels through worlds after worlds. He meets people along the way who take different paths to personal fulfillment. But when we see people through the lens of the screen it becomes so easy to understand others’ decisions without context.
