About the event

Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated is an African-American organization of mothers who nurture future leaders by strengthening children ages 2-19 through chapter programming, community service, legislative advocacy and philanthropic giving. We believe every child, with proper guidance and opportunity, can be a leader. The Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter leverages the rich community resources of the Mid-Hudson Valley, the power of the regional and national Jack and Jill of America organization, and our network of families to provide meaningful and relevant learning experiences for our children. 

Every two years the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter hosts a fundraiser to support our community and teach   children about philanthropic giving and service. This year, we’re raising money in memory of  MHV member, Monique Williams to help fight the battle she lost at the age of 15. From the age of 9, Monique waged a courageous battle against leukemia before succumbing to the disease on September 8, 2012. Our MHV Teen group has been raising money in honor of Monique since she was diagnosed. Now, it’s the community’s turn to aid our youth in this amazing effort to help find a cure for cancer.

Together, we have the power to make a difference, and so we’re reaching out to our community to donate or sponsor the Friends of Monique Fundraiser. Your monies will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Jack and Jill of America Foundation – an organization that empowers young people to build the leadership and character based skills that lead to projects like this. In return, we can provide sponsors with the ability to raise their profile in the community and reach new customers via our expansive network which is catalyzed by our strong presence in the Light the Night Walk hosted by the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society. But even more importantly, your support will help create greater awareness and contribute to our overall goal—to help find a cure today, not tomorrow.

Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter Teens started this fundraiser in 2012 and we plan keep the fire burning for Monique and others like her until a cure is found. We hope you will join us.
