FIESTA BORICUA 2017

The Puerto Rican Cultural Center (PRCC) of Chicago, Illinois is celebrating its annual “Fiesta Boricua De Bandera a Bandera” festival, now in its 24th year. This event attracts crowds estimated between 150,000- 200,000 of all ages from the Chicago area and neighboring cities. Since 1993, Fiesta Boricua has been celebrated along the commercially and culturally vibrant Division St. corridor known as Paseo Boricua. It has featured every genre of Puerto Rican music including Bomba and Plena, Salsa, Hip-Hop, House music, Latin jazz and much more. It has featured some of the best talents from these musical expressions including Eddie Palmieri, Ismael Miranda, Andy Montanez, Andres Jimenez, Roy Brown, Tito Nieves and many more. Fiesta Boricua has become one of the largest and most important branded festivals of the Latino community in the Midwest The festival was founded by the Puerto Rican Cultural

Center, a not-for-profit community organization, with over 16 vibrant community programs including: Pedro Albizu Campos High School, Consuelo Lee Tapia Child Care, Vida Sida (HIV/AIDS counseling and Diagnostic Center), Rescate (LGTBQ transitional living program) and others. The Festival is co-sponsored by State Representative Cynthia Soto, the Division Street Business Development Association (DSBDA) and Alderman Roberto Maldonado. For the second year we will feature the House on Paseo stage which showcases some of Chicago’s top House DJ’s dedicated to the city’s homegrown sound of House Music offering a unique opportunity to reach a more diverse audience.

My name is Jose I have been working for the Puerto Rican Cultural Center a community based non-profit for 4 years now and we do some great work for the community like our LTGBQ homeless youth center or the work we have done with HIV awareness, we care about the community we serve the same way we care about this fest that we have been putting on for 24 years and showcases the best this community has to offer.
