A March Madness bracket event for charity.
March Madness has become a part of the American culture. CBS news estimates that $9 billion in wagers were made during the 2015 NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament. What if a portion of those wagers were charitable contributions? That's the question we set out to answer. The Colorado Mentoring Partnership Bracket Challenge is designed to take advantage of this cultural phenomenon by providing participants the opportunity to submit March Madness brackets on behalf of charity. Event sponsors reap the benefit of a massive grassroots marketing campaign while positioning themselves as a philanthropic entity.
This year, we are partnered with the Colorado Mentoring Partnership (CMP). CMP has a network of 60 charities throughout the great state of Colorado and we are conservatively forecasting 10,000 participants.
Event details:
This event is hosted by Fundbrackets.com using a unique URL (example: CMPbracketchallenge.com) and sponsored by up to five (5) entities. The event will offer 2 "either/or" packages meaning; either five (5) sponsors will select "The Grand Donation + Sponsorship Fee (Multi)" or one (1) sponsor will select "The Grand Donation + Sponsorship Fee (Total)". The Grand Donation is a $50,000 donation incentive offered to participating charities. The Sponsorship Fee is $3 per unique participant up to 1,667 participants (equivalent to $5,000) per participating sponsor. Sponsorship fee per unique participant beyond 1,667 is $0 (we are conservatively forecasting 10,000 unique users).
Participants will submit brackets on behalf of charity, up to five (5) per participant, and the winning bracket determines the winning charity.
The Bracket Submission Process: Individuals will visit the event website and complete the event entry form. Next, they will attempt to earn points by predicting the outcome of each match-up in the 2016 NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament. One (1) point will be awarded for each correct prediction.
The Winning Bracket: The winning bracket will be selected, at random during The Grand Donation Ceremony, from the top ten (10) brackets as determined by the total points earned. The charity associated with the winning bracket will be the event winning charity and recipient of a portion of The Grand Donation.
The Grand Donation Distribution: $10,000 of the total $50,000 will be donated to the charity with the largest amount of participation. The remaining $40,000 will be donated to the winning charity.
Event Sponsorship Benefits: In exchange for the sponsorship fee and donation, the sponsor will be provided branding opportunities such as; logo(s) on event website, logo(s)/mention in all email correspondence, logo(s)/mention in all press releases, logo(s)/mention in all social media offerings, logo(s)/mention at The Grand Donation Ceremony. Should a sponsor choose "The Grand Donation + Sponsorship Fee (Total)" package, they will also be given control over the entry form content and ownership of the entry form responses.
