The David McKnight Foundation

The David McKnight Memorial Golf Tournament is an event hosted by The David McKnight Foundation (DMF). DMF is a non-profit organization named to continue the legacy of 3 generations of David McKnights who lost their lives too early after losing their battles with addiction and mental health struggles. David Stanley McKnight, David Michael McKnight, and David Christopher McKnight all lived lives that touched many. They all helped those in need and as a tribute to them, the foundation was funded to continue their ways of giving. Many were impacted by the loss of these special men, and it has been overwhelming to see how many people have rallied behind this cause and have come together to turn tragedy to triumph. 

The golf tournament is DMF's primary source of fundraising, and was born on a rainy south Florida day. The world had been shut down by Covid-19 and everyone was stuck inside wondering what this pandemic was to bring. To bring relief to many, God gave us the gift of “The Match” a golf match between Tiger Woods, Peyton Manning, Phil Mickelson, and Tom Brady. On that day many texts were exchanged about missing Golf or wanting to get back into the game. Along with those texts came the ones about what Grandpa, Big Dave, or LD would say about it. Then it happened, the text heard round the world. “We should do a memorial tournament to establish the non-profit” and the rest was history. 

We are incredibly pleased to announce the 4th Annual David McKnight Memorial Tournament. As promised, we are coming back bigger, badder, and better than each year prior. Proceeds will go to providing financial assistance for people seeking treatment for a substance abuse or other mental health illnesses.  If you or a loved one could benefit from financial assistance related to these conditions, please feel free to contact us at *****@****.***.

Why should you sponsor?

Our sponsorship opportunities are very visible to the public. Golf is a diverse sport so the exposure to different demographics is more prevalant than something like a gala. In addition to all the participants of the tournament and the banquet hosted after, sponsors will be displayed throughout the course to reach the general public not involved in the event. Our sponsors are affordable and all proceeds go directly to the David McKnight Foundation to be used for scholarships for addiction and/or mental health treatment.

DANAE MCKNIGHT

My name is Danae McKnight and I am one of the founders of the David McKnight Foundation (DMF, Inc.). This foundation was developed in honor of my grandpa, dad, and brother to ensure that money is never a reason that someone doesn't seek the treatment that they need. My grandpa was lost to suicide after this battle with mental health diseases while my dad and brother were lost their battles to addiction. This foundation is obviously very special to me and my family as we were directly impacted by these losses. 

 

As we have grown our foundation, we have created a network for people to find support if they or someone they love are facing these challenges. We do not pay anyone out of our foundation and are based solely on a volunteer basis to ensure that we can get the most money to those in need. 

 

Everyone knows someone who has or is currently struggling with addiction. As such, we thought it was time we normalized it and did our part to ensure that people can find help through our foundation.
