3rd Annual Oktoberfest Season Opening,

Morrison, Colorado, United States Morrison, Colorado, United States

  • About the event

The motto of our club has always been: "To upload the customs and costumes of Germany".  What better way to show off our many wonderful traditions than with Oktoberfest.  This is a big family event that we decided to take from a little club festival, to a community event.

The first thing you need at Oktoberfest is visitors.  They make a fest.  In just 2 years we went from 500 to 1,500 people.  This year we are hoping to surpass the 2,000 mark.  It is because of our wonderful visitors that we have decided to lower the cost of our entrance to $5 for adults and $3 for kids over 5.  Under 5 is free as always.  We wanted to lower the cost in hopes that we can increase the traffic through the gate and get more people to help enjoy the event.

In Germany, every town has it's own brewery, so beer is the most important thing to any festival.  This year, we are highlighting 3 brews.  First, we are staying in Colorado with a micro-brew called Prost Brewing.  They brew German beer the way it would be done in Germany.  Prost has helped us in the past, and everyone loves their beer.  Second, we are importing Andechs.  This beer is brewed in the monastery in Münich who boasts to be the first brewery in Germany.  Last, but never least is Warsteiner brewed along the northern Rhine River Valley.

Food is the next important thing behind a good festival.  We have some of the best German cooks in the state.  German potato salad, sauerkraut, blaukraut, wurst, pork roast and roast chicken.  If your mouth isn't watering by now, maybe you need to stop by and try a plate or two.

There is no Oktoberfest without music.  We have "Those Austrian Guys" coming on Saturday for your enjoyment.  These men really put on a show.  Bells, horns, jokes and of course, music you can really dance to.  These guys are a favorite along the front range as well as the western slope.

Our club is proud to have not just 1 dance group, but 2.  Our Schuhplattlers will be performing throughout both days.  With the kids doing the wood cutters dance, and the adults performing less strenuous dances.  The Volkstanzgruppe (folks dance group)  Will be giving dance lessons for those that want to learn to waltz, polka, or do some social folk dancing.

Venders are welcome for the 2nd year now.  We have never opened our festival to outside venders, but we have had so many requests, we decided to give it a try last year and were very successful. This year we are hoping for more craft venders.  We do scan and select venders so there aren't more of 1 kind of vender.  Example is we don't need to venders selling home made lotion.

Our Oktoberfest runs from 12 pm to 11 pm on Saturday, with the band staying longer if needed.  From 12 to 5 pm on Sunday with happy hour and food specials as the festival winds down.

We have lots of fencing that we can use to put up advertising.  Areas inside the building, along the stage, and near the door.  We also will add any sponsors to our monthly news letter that is sent out to members, and various businesses around the Denver Metro area.  We will also advertise for you on our web site and in the announcements throughout the break.  The higher levels include your logo on our poster and all our print advertising starting the day you pay.
