About the event
The Cardinal Nest Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preparing high school students for their post-graduation endeavors through mentorship, programs, scholarships, and success coaching. Each year, we invite high school students and community leaders from East Cleveland and surrounding areas to attend our Youth Empowerment Weekend. The theme of our weekend this year is “R.I.S.E. – Reclaiming Innate Self-Efficacy.” The purpose of the Youth Empowerment Weekend is to provide high school students with the tools necessary to cultivate their inner abilities and skills so that they can become positive change agents in the community. Our events will take place during the weekend of June 3-5, 2016.
YouthEmpowerment Conference – Friday, June 3, 2016
Our youth empowerment conference will featureseveral dynamic guest speakers and breakout sessions on topics surrounding self-efficacyand community building. Attendants will be provided breakfast & lunch. Wewill also have giveaways and prizes throughout the day.
NetworkingMixer – Saturday, June 4, 2016
The networking mixer will be anopportunity for students to connect with professionals and community leadersin order to build positive relationships. During the networking mixer, therewill be activities and a panel discussion on Self-Efficacy and Success.
CommunityDay Festival – Sunday, June 5, 2016
During the community day festival,families will have the opportunity to come out and enjoy a display of localtalent while getting information and goods from various educational andprofessional vendors. The event will also serve as school supply drive forarea elementary schools.
The goals of the weekend are:
· To inspire students to work together to reach their personal, professional, and academic goals.
· To increase student’s ability and capacity to accomplish tasks and deal with challenges.
· To develop a network of student leaders to catalyze positive behaviors in the community.
· To provide a healthy and engaging learning and networking environment for students and community leaders.
