About the event

Wrightsville Beach Museum is a non-profit community archive and teaching museum whose mission is to preserve, protect and share the vanishing history of Wrightsville Beach for future generations.

For the first time, the museum is combining some of our most beloved community events into one amazing night at the historic Carolina Yacht Club.

For nearly 20 years, Wrightsville Beach Museum has been holding Shrimparoos - events where the community comes together to enjoy music, drinks, and steamed shrimp cooked to perfection at the event. It is always heartwarming when community members tell us that they remember attending the event as a child with their parents and now look forward to the opportunity to bring their children to the event this year.

WBM Waterman Hall of Fame Awards 2025

The Wrightsville Beach Waterman Hall of Fame is intended to be a lasting tribute for the achievements of the generations of Wrightsville Beach watermen who have shaped this community. The Hall of Fame honors those who have made the local ocean and marshes their home and the values they exhibited.

Why should you sponsor?

Wrightsville Beach Museum is a community archive and teaching museum located in New Hanover County, NC. The mission of the Wrightsville Beach Museum is to collect, care for, exhibit, and interpret items that serve to illustrate the history of Wrightsville Beach. The museum’s collections contain items that best depict this history in terms of natural resources, exploration, settlement, trade, transportation, education, and cultural and social development. WBM is the product of 30 years of community participation and has been the training ground and launching pad for many of New Hanover County’s humanities professionals for a generation.

Every dollar raised goes directly to serving our mission. It is through the kindness of our community partners and sponsors that we are able to remain free and open to the public. Our commitment to serving our community free of charge becomes foundational to our mission as we push further into our focus on K-12 education and providing valuable work skills development training to our volunteers. 

Museum Staff

Wrightsville Beach Museum was founded in 1995 by local preservationists and amateur historians to create a home for their most treasured memories and to form a community gathering place to share history. 

The vast majority of our collection comes from community members sharing their family heirlooms and stories. We are committed to ensuring these items are protected and their legacy lives on. Many of the museum’s most precious artifacts are candid photographs and found media that would have been otherwise lost to time.
