About the event
WRO-USA is now in its third year and is a rapidly growing competition. In 2015, 75 teams from eight states competed for a chance to participate in the national and global championships. WRO-USA will be bigger and better than ever in 2016, with plans to expand to more than 150 teams in at least 15 states. The National Championship is scheduled for September 4, 2016 at Northern Illinois Univeristy in DeKalb, Illinois, in partnership with the NIU STEM Outreach program.

Michelle TaylorWorld Robot OlympiadTM (WRO) is a global robotics competition with more than 20,000 teams from nearly 60 participating countries worldwide. Contestants ranging from elementary school to college design, build and program Lego Mindstorm and Tetrix/Matrix robots to complete specific challenges. WRO contestants apply science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) based concepts and knowledge to real world applications while developing essential skills like teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, persistence and communication. Through its competitions, WRO inspires young people to continue on STEM paths to future STEM careers.
