About the event

WeOnFyre Cypher is a free, family-friendly, monthly community event and outreach movement that travels to various locations locally and internationally to provide dancers, artists, creatives, entrepreneur minds and community supporters with a safe space to network, fellowship, mingle, exchange, touch base with fellow communities, and celebrate positivity and prosperity. WeOnFyre Cypher was founded by Joy "Kuma" Gasaway in 2014, and launched officially in 2020 as a physical event, which has since gone international to countries including Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Congo, and the Philippines.

The Breakdown

WeOnFyre Cypher as an outreach movement also has several functions and subsidiaries that serve specific audiences and focuses in various communities, ranging from education to extracurricular competitions. The three main categories of WeOnFyre Cypher's focuses are: Educational, Extracurricular, and Infrastructure Development.

• Educational - Class programs like Novice 2 Nice Workshops & Classes, and CypherMini's Kids Breakin' Program partner with community organizations, studios and other outreaches to provide dance education and insight into career building for artists and creatives.
• Extracurricular - Every community needs something that encourages positive use of free time, and since WeOnFyre Cypher touches base with all ages, we offer our general community event WeOnFyre Cypher as a free, monthly get-together that travels to a different location in a different community area every month to inspire unity, and celebrate positivity and prosperity in the community. The international event tour known as WeOnFyre Cypher Expo also does this in other countries, where the events include workshops, performances, and displays of all kinds of artistry during the event. Other extracurricular activities include the dance battle series BattleNation (adults 18+) and CypherNation (ages 6 to 17) which encourage students from the dance programs offered by WeOnFyre Cypher to train, enter and compete in friendly dance battles for cash and other prizes.
• Infrastructure Development - Another important role needed in creative communities is the establishment of networks, and a directory of resources that can help creatives and organizations properly launch and establish a stable foundation for their goals. ArtisPrep Resource Center is one of the tools created and shared freely by WeOnFyre Cypher, and it consists of directories that contain information ranging from basic legal documentation to contact directories for photographers, videographers, DJ's, venues, and guides on how to write grants, audition for acting gigs, set up and maintain your resume and press kits, and more. The ArtisPrep Resource Center is an ever-growing database that consolidates new, safe and trustworthy resources into an easy-to-use format to make it easy for creatives to have everything they need to know to get started, all in one place. Another resource center created by WeOnFyre Cypher is The Nation Academy, which focuses specifically on providing history, training guides, tutorials and curriculum-building resources for dance instructors and students who wish to learn, share, and build programs in local and international communities.

WeOnFyre Cypher runs independently, but has partnered with other entities, including endorsers, collaborators and sponsors over the years to achieve bigger goals, including hosting bigger, more elaborative events, community functions, and classes.

WeOnFyre Cypher/WeOnFyre Cypher Expo is a monthly free community event and outreach that provides family-friendly safes spaces, resources, education, and tools to creative communities worldwide, as well as a platform for artists, creatives, entrepreneur minds and community supporters to network, fellowship, touch base, exchange and celebrate positivity and prosperity in the community.

Originally conceptualized in 2014 by FyreNation Crew Co-Founder, Joy "Kuma" Gasaway, WeOnFyre Cypher launched officially in November 2020 with local 4-hour long community cypher events in and around Atlanta. The event later grew and went international in 2022, and since then has reached several countries including Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Congo, and The Philippines.

Apart from the monthly dance events, WeOnFyre Cypher aims to and focuses on bringing awareness to deficits in creative communities, as well as producing resources to help improve the handling, recognition and success rates of creatives turning their passions into careers.

Most recently, the founder of WeOnFyre Cypher and her husband were awarded the Community Award for their efforts, accomplishments, influences and legacies in local and international communities, as well as presented with a full magazine publication and mini docuseries about their life, missions and focuses for all that WeOnFyre Cypher has to offer. Other functions include:

• Dance and Artist Educational programs and classes (ArtisPrep, CypherMini's Kids Breaking Program, and Novice 2 Nice Classes and Workshops)
• Competitive family-friendly dance leagues (CypherNation, and BattleNation)
• Online resources and tools (ArtisPrep Resource Center, The Nation Academy online school)

Donations made to the movement are always funneled into the various projects and missions, which go towards bigger opportunities for communities worldwide!

Anthony Gasaway

My name is Anthony "Fyrefli" Gasaway, Jr., and I am a professional Street Dancer, Instructor, and along with my wife Joy "Kuma" Gasaway, we are co-founders of the Atlanta-based, internationally known dance crew, FyreNation Crew. 

Joy, my wife, is the founder and creator of WeOnFyre Cypher, which is our monthly, free, family-friendly community cypher and networking event, and international outreach that she conceptualized in 2014 and launched officially in 2020.

We teach, travel and perform, as well as host monthly community events locally and internationally, and have been featured in full magazine publications and have a documentary series streaming about us in addition to movie cameos and documentary series appearances all discussing what we do.

I specialize in teaching foundations of Street Dance (Breaking, Locking, Popping, Animation) and the history and origins of HipHop Culture and Community and we have our own curriculum that teaches foundations, terminology, vocabulary, technique and conditioning for all ages. We have partnered with various programs around Atlanta, and the state of Georgia, and also launched independent programs to provide dance education and career development education for dancers and creatives, using our own experiences, resources and success to help others turn their passions into careers.
