The WeLive Festival is a concert film series that focuses on talented musicians of various genres. All films are elaborately produced with ten to 15 mostly moving cameras and a specially planned light show and completed in a post-production process lasting several weeks with film editing, colour grading, mixing and mastering. This clearly sets the productions apart from the often cheaply produced livestreams - WeLive is not a livestream format, but a film production. The entire series is published free of charge as a stream on YouTube and Facebook to guarantee the artists as large a platform as possible. Artists from a wide range of genres, from classical to rock, rap, singer-songwriter or funk, are the focus of the individual films. For the overall project, the organisers of WeLive received the German Rock&Pop Award for the promotion of music culture in 2020. In 2021, WeLive was awarded the Alternative Media Prize in the category "Networking". WeLive has been reviewed well over 100 times in international media and has been the subject of numerous radio and television programmes. This event is the online premiere of the eleventh episode of WeLive. The film focuses on the unplugged performance of the indie rock band Everdeen.
By sponsoring WeLive, the sponsor taps into an existing image. WeLive stands for the support of previously unheard musical talents, regardless of genre, age, ethnicity, gender, etc. We only have one criterion: the music must be of a certain quality. Our only criterion: the music must be of high quality. "Our" artists are diverse and our audiences can be found in all walks of life and age groups. With a cooperation, the sponsor makes a contribution to supporting the stumbling cultural scene and at the same time presents concert films of the highest quality.
The punchline studio is a German media production company run by the brothers Pirmin Styrnol and Maik Styrnol, who have already been responsible for film productions with rock legends such as Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Nazareth etc.. The company has also supported the regional music scene for many years. Since the founding of punchline studio, the Styrnol brothers have made their audio and video know-how available to various professional and semi-professional musicians free of charge. The punchline studio has also produced documentary films on a voluntary basis for the Red Cross. Pirmin Styrnol was also part of the ARD broadcasts of football World Cups and Olympic Games as a producer and speaker. The punchline studio is also making this expertise available to the cultural scene during the Corona period. As early as March 2020, punchline studio released the video "Project United: Side By Side", a pop anthem featuring 70 musicians from 12 countries and asking for donations for the aid organisation Handicap International. The video was shown on TV stations in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Spain, and various radio stations in Europe played the song. In May 2020, punchline studio and the non-profit association Lahrer Rockwerkstatt e.V. launched the "WeLive Festival" and produced elaborate concert films with ten cameras and several weeks of post-production for various regional artists from Baden-Württemberg. The artists received a fee for this commitment. The punchline studio financed the first season of the festival through sponsors and a considerable salary sacrifice. In 2021, punchline studio again founded the initiative "WeLive on Tour" with the Lahrer Rockwerkstatt e.V. and produced further concert films with rather unknown musicians in locations in Germany.
