WCSA Dance Carnival,

Cleveland, Ohio, United States Cleveland, Ohio, United States

  • About the event

WCSA's Dance department is putting on a Fall themed Carnival for students and families in the community of Cleveland! We are trying to raise money to purchase costumes, Dance shoes, and a dance space for the students concluding recital in May of 2018. This carnival will help us get closer to reaching our goal!

    Why should you sponsor?

We would love a sponsor to support our event because this ultimate goal is that of Arts and culture. Most of the students in the dance program are residents of the inner-city of Cleveland. These students are taking Dance to broaden their horizon, enhance their thinking skills, improve their discipline and ultimately as an outlet for everyday life. I am the director of the program and I too, grew up in Cleveland and if it weren't for my dance instructor trying to show me the best there was out there, I could've fallen into the wrong things at a young age. I want to be that for these young adults and small children today and give back to the community that gave me so much!

    Ca'la Henderson

My name is Càla Henderson and I am a 24 year old Dance Teaching Nurse! I have been dancing since I was 3, mostly in the city of Cleveland. I graduated from Cleveland School of the Arts in 2011 and went on to The Ohio State University where I received my bachelors in Fine Arts with Distinction in performance and choreography. I have been blessed to have been able to perform professionally with Verb Ballets in Cleveland, Ohio and also with Philadanco in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have been teaching in the city of Cleveland since 2012 with a summer camp for inner city students called The Nehemiah Project. During my time at Ohio State, I taught competition dance at Pickerington Dance Academy for 3 years, where I won many awards for choreography.  Currently, I am in the process of teaching dance at Westside, working part time as a nurse and going to school part time to get my second bachelors degree in nursing!
