THE MUSICAL
War has broken out over the death of a patriarch. One brother, taking his lead from the biblical story of Esau and Jacob, steals his brother’s birthright and the kingdom is split in two. Thus begins Way Back When or (The Tale of the Clown from Pollis Minor.)
At the start we meet Clown, a Court Jester from the old kingdom of Pollis before it was split in two. He now rides back and forth between the two opposing kingdoms trying to mend what was once a whole state. Only cunning, skill and outright manipulation of men, their hearts and God can make that happen and Clown is the person for it.
With the end of the war his catalyst, and the love of two young hearts as his guide, he forges forward to uncover a most incredible secret, that if revealed would have dire consequence for both kingdoms!
Way Back When is a modern take on a very old art form (Comedia dell'arte) written in a classical (Shakespearean) manner using modern dialogue and music. The forth wall is broken in this musical and brings a Renaissance Faire feel to the stage and theatre. This is a wonderful piece of theatre which should have seen the light of a LA stage years ago. It appears that now is the time!
THE IMPACT: WIN WIN!
First, this is a real opportunity for the sponsor to create an ongoing relationship with the Laity Arts Foundation. We have 26 years of successful youth programming in the arts. Second, the sponsors PR doesn't end after the run of the show. It will flow throughout the course of the 2016-2017 school year through their literature and recitals which are held twice a year.
Laity maintains its program at 4 - 5 schools throughout the Palmdale School District 10 months out of the year and has access to a client population of 2500-5000 parents and students. Plus events are attended by parents, relatives and friends. Further, communication with parents is ongoing through email, flyers and our website. This is a prime opportunity to have exclusive access to a targeted population segment.
The sponsors brand will be prominant on all literature during the run of the show as well as featured during the rest of the school year ending in May. So the impact then is not just in helping to produce a musical and bring a unique and worthy piece of musical theatre to the Los Angeles Area. It is also to help raise operational and scholarship funding for the Laity Arts LEAP afterschool program.
