In the past, Don Shelby, Jim Ramstad, Cathy Wurzer, Reatha Clark King, Ken Barlow and Kevin Kling have shared their stories of victory over adversity. This year, Steve Ford will join with emcee Jearlyn Steele to lend their voices and personal stories of triumph over life’s obstacles to a captivated audience. ABOUT STEVE FORD
The son of former President Gerald R. Ford and Betty Ford, Steve Ford has successfully negotiated the bumpy road from the White House to a successful 20-year career as an actor in Hollywood.
A teenager when his father assumed the reins of the presidency from Richard Nixon, Ford left the White House at age 18 to pursue his dream of being a cowboy on cattle ranches out West, followed closely by his ten secret service agents. He later went on to a successful acting career, appearing in over 30 movies including Contact with Jodie Foster, Armageddon with Bruce Willis, Starship Troopers, Eraser with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Heat with Al Pacino, Carrie II, Young Doctors in Love, and When Harry Met Sally as Meg Ryan's boyfriend. Ford also appeared for six years on the Emmy Award-winning daytime drama The Young and the Restless, hosted the NBC show Secret Service, and has had many guest leads on shows such as JAG; Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman; and Suddenly Susan.One of Ford's most rewarding roles has been that of student motivational speaker, relating his inspiring experiences during his family's stay in the White House and his years in Hollywood. He shares a broad range of inspirational stories, including how the family dealt with Betty Ford's battles with alcoholism and breast cancer, and his own successful fight in overcoming alcoholism.
