Very Bike Trip,

About the event

The project – general presentation :

We are very motivated and wish to go down to the south of France by bike,
it is an ambitious project which is both cultural and sporty. This adventure,
made of more than 375 miles, will lead us to Agde – we are the Very Bike
Trippers from Dijon! This project gives us the opportunity to enhance our team
spirit and to develop our autonomy. We are supported by the federation Leo
Lagrange, and we’ll be making a report
across our course, during the first two weeks of August. We are also strongly
active on social media platforms. Once in Agde, we will compete in a race
near Barcarès on June 19^th.

The route :

We’ll be travelling more than 375 miles by bike
from August 2^nd to August 15^th. The route is divided in
steps more of less long depending on the drop. After each of them, we’ll camp
on communal fields or on friends’ gardens. 

Each step is performed in one day, and the
route is interrupted with 4 rest days. That is to say on three days travelling,
we’ll spend two days biking and one day resting.

The crossed landscapes and environments deserve
to be visited because they are really diversified. Social networks will enable us keeping people who support us informed,
all along our trip.

The return journey from Agde will be achieved by
train. And the equipment will be repatriated thanks to the Service Bagage of
SNCF.

The equipment :

We will have five bikes, two of
which equipped with trailers and the others with satchel bags. In addition to
that, each of us will carry a travelling bag. The trailers are necessary to
transport the camping gear.

For one bike, the total load with
saddle bags is about 63 lbs (bike – 30 lbs ; satchel bags – 22 lbs ; travelling
bag – 11 lbs), and this load is about 125 lbs for a bike with a trailer (bike –
30 lbs ; trailer loaded – 84 lbs ; travelling bag – 11 lbs).

Our shirts will be flocked, and a banner will be hung on both trailers.

We will mainly be sleeping in a wide
tent that allows us to stay with the equipment during the night. Our camping
gear will be classic – a gas stove, sleeping bags, a cool box

Our goals and expectations :

Travel shapes youth! We expect a lot from that
trip. We first see the opportunity to live an adventure. The
travel will enable us to meet other people, to share our passion for sport and
to discover France at human speed! That’s at last a sharing leading us to such
a beautiful project requiring a lot of work beforehand. Thus, we need to be
always involved. That’s why we learn to communicate and organize.
