Victory for Veterans

Introduction:

Welcome to  The Victory for Veterans Charity Soccer Tournament.  This event will provide a fun and competitive team building experience for participants, while contributing to the greater cause of the Fisher House Military Hero’s Campaign.  

The Fisher House Foundation:

The Fisher House Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that has served over 180,000 military families through providing comfortable housing near major military and VA hospitals.  It is their goal to provide a true “home away from home” for families to reside while their loved ones receive treatment from these centers.  Homes are generally provided within walking distance from treatment facilities.  There are currently 61 Fisher Houses in operation.  These houses consist of 8 to 21 fully furnished suites to accommodate multiple families.  Through their efforts, the Fisher House Foundation has saved families more than $200 million in lodging and transportation costs during difficult and emotional times.  In addition to housing, the Fisher House Foundation also generously provides scholarships for Military Children, the Hero Miles Program and is a cosponsor of the Newman’s Own Award.

All proceeds raised from the Kappa Sigma Victory for Veterans Week will be donated in full to the Fisher House Military Heroes Campaign.

Why should you sponsor?

In 2006, Kappa Sigma adopted The Fisher House Foundation as the philanthropy. Nationally we have dedicated ourselves to this wonderful cause. Established in 1990, Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes at major military and VA hospitals for families to stay at while their loved one is getting care at the hospital. There are 60 Fisher Houses located in the United States and Germany, including several in the DC metro area. In 2012, over 19,000 military families were beneficiaries of Fisher House’s charitable projects. Fisher House works closely with

Kappa Sigma’s Military Heroes Campaign, which aids the thousands of wounded military veterans returning from active duty. This past year in 2014, Kappa Sigma raised 1.5 million nationally for The Fisher House Foundation.

We would like to extend to you the opportunity to be a part of our Victory for Veterans this year. Your monetary or item donation will get you fantastic exposure in the Fairfax community and on George Mason University’s campus as we expect a minimum of 300 attendees.
