About the event
The UWSP Habitat for Humanity Student Organization will be going on its annual Alternative Spring Break trip in March of 2016. The organization will be taking 13 students to the islands of Maui and Lanai in Hawaii to help build for a family in need of a home. Although Hawaii is a beautiful, warm state to spend our Spring Break, we go because we realize that families living in poverty on the islands have no way of moving off the islands. Habitat for Humanity is looking for sponsors or donations to help support the cost of the trip - mainly airfare tickets and program fees/donations to HFH Maui.
The purpose of Habitat for Humanity is to bring affordable housing to those in financial need. Throughout the school year, the students of the UWSP Habitat for Humanity organization dedicate their time and effort into volunteering at the local job site house and even go beyond that to volunteer at the local Salvation Army, Humane Society, and in the University's volunteer days such as Make a Difference Day.
The purpose of the UWSP Habitat for Humanity's Alternative Spring Break trip is to allow UWSP students the chance to have an alternative, affordable Spring Break at a warm destination doing something that benefits others. This trip is open to all UWSP students through a short application process, although slots are sometimes limited.
