Program Introduction
Ustad Dr.Gulam Rasool khan was born in a poor family on 24/04/1927 without any musical background. He was interested in singing from childhood and similarly his voice was too melodious, soul-stirring and sonorous. Due to poor condition of family he could not able to get the specific education of music.
He did complete his interest in learning of music by listening and reading different types of books. In that period he got companionship of knowledgeable artist like Pt.Badriprasad & Pt.Manilalji. Through this he acquired abundance in singing .He was famous as a Gazal singer in 1947. His name then populated as purely classical singer after studying the classical music.
He did the job to giving the knowledge by laying the foundation of “LALIT KALA MANDAL” in Parbhani (Maharashtra). His style of singing was incomparable and captivating.
Government of India has made documentary film in 16 languages on his life by considering his honest service to music.(1994)
Ustadji is honored by many awards like Maharashtra Bhushan, Kusumtai Chavhan and D.LIT etc.
Dr.Parag Choudhari, disciple of Ustadji started the Sangeet mohotsav in the memory of his Gurudev from 2011.
