Centennial College will host an event UP ALL NIGHT in support of mental health in the workplace on Thursday, March 31 starting at 7 p.m. at the Story Arts Centre. The event will be a 12-hour awake-athon and we ask our attendees to stay up in support of those suffering from mental health issues since nighttime is often the hardest time for them.
Millennial are more at risk of dealing with mental health concerns than previous generations and since they now comprise the largest workforce, employers need to start implementing initiatives that will help address and potentially minimize this issue. That is why it is important to connect students and employers so that collectively we can learn to work together.
Up All Night will consist of a panel of speakers and several workshops on the subject, followed by activities that aim to give students tools for dealing with stress. The speakers will include representatives of Bell, CAMH, CivicAction, the Friendship Bench, as well as, students, family members and faculty affected by mental health issues. The activities throughout the night will include bouncing castle, therapy dogs, yoga sessions, dance performance, and others.
The proceeds from the event will go towards installing a Friendship Bench on campus and a not-for-profit organization or a scholarship fund. The bench will be installed in September for the 50th anniversary of the College.
