Unveiling Perspectives: A 4-Day Cineforum,

Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

  • About the event

In an era where global issues resonate deeply, cinema is a powerful medium for dialogue and reflection. The "Unveiling Perspectives" Cineforum in Kuala Lumpur aims to spark conversations and foster understanding through the lens of impactful films. Over four days, we delve into the narratives of remarkable individuals - Chico Mendes, Thomas Sankara, and Solomon Mahlangu - each confronting socio-political challenges in their unique contexts, and we highlight the resilience and struggle of the Kurdish people in their fight for autonomy and human rights. Through screenings, panel discussions, and documentaries, we invite audiences to explore themes of environmentalism, neo-colonialism, apartheid, and resistance against oppression engaging, with the essence of human struggle and resilience.

    Why should you sponsor?

In a world where the narratives of the marginalized often remain unheard, "LiberArt 2024" aims to spotlight pressing global issues that languish in the shadows of mainstream media coverage. At the heart of "LiberArt 2024" lies a commitment to shedding light on the overlooked struggles of our time. From Africa's quest for self-determination against neo-colonialism and imperialism to the relentless march of intersectional gender equality, and the scourge of land grabbing and food insecurity perpetuated by predatory capitalist systems—these are the narratives that demand our attention and action. "LiberArt 2024" stands as a testament to the power of international solidarity and cooperation. By bringing together Potere al Popolo! and Parti Sosialis Malaysia, this project symbolizes a shared commitment to transcending borders in pursuit of common goals. Through a series of events, discussions, and artistic showcases, "LiberArt 2024" aims to disseminate knowledge and raise awareness about global social injustices. By amplifying the voices of the marginalized and providing a platform for their stories to be heard, we seek to catalyze meaningful dialogue and inspire collective action. Beyond raising awareness, "LiberArt 2024" is dedicated to making tangible differences in the lives of those affected by social injustices. Through fundraising efforts, we aim to collect funds in support of practical social projects that directly address the root causes of oppression and inequality. In essence, "LiberArt 2024" represents more than just an event—it's a movement. It's a call to arms for all who believe in the power of solidarity, compassion, and collective action.
