Ukti - A dance piece about freedom of speech,

About the event

“Ukti”, when translated from Sanskrit, means “Speech”. Article 19 of our constitution gives each individual the freedom to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas without fear. But is that happening in the current environment? Are individuals truly free to express their grievances, dissatisfaction and anger? We hear stories of people being arrested for voicing their opinions on social media, of mob lynchings, of journalists being killed, of minorities being targeted, of religion being used to control the weak. It seems there is a systematic effort in place to paint the entire nation with a specific ideology. This piece, in a way, is a rebellion against this effort. An attempt to put our outrage in front of people. India is a democratic country, and it's in our hands to preserve it.

We will be performing this piece in Goa, at Jungle Dance Theater, on the 20th of February 2018. We need funds for the travel and accomodation of our artists.

You should sponsor our event because we are trying to put forth an issue that affects all of us. Violation of our fundamental rights is everyone's concern, and I truly believe that art has the power to bring revolutions. We are a bunch of passionate artists who really want to put this piece out, but won't be able to unless we have the resources. 

If you sponsor us, we will make sure we put out your name on all our publicity material, as well as social media posts and shoutouts. We will also include you in our announcements/credits wherever we perform.

We are Redanse Studios, an upcoming community space in Gurgaon, Delhi, India. It was started with the vision to bring all performing arts and artists under one roof - offering them everything they need. Choreography is our passion and we believe in communicating our ideas through the language of dance.
