About the event
The Mars Society has created a international robotics challenge, the University Rover Challenge, to take place in Manchester's city centre as a major event during the European City of Science 2016, and is an official event as part of the ESOF conference.
An analogue Mars surface created in a central public space in the city centre will see Universities from around the world compete, their rovers carrying out different tasks on the Martian surface.
The location is a prime high-profile central location in the centre of Manchester's Cathedral Gardens, surrounded by busy tourist attractions such as the National Football Museum, Manchester Cathedral, Cheetham's School of Music, and next to the top shopping areas in Manchester such as the Corn Exchange, Selfridges, the Arndale Centre and Printworks.
Manchester's Victoria train station is at one end of the site, and a busy Metro station the other. There will ab a great atmosphere, with food and drink stands, and exciting exhibitions from sponsors such as Airbus Space and Defence, and rocket company Starchaser Industries with a 9m tall rocket on display.
Why should you sponsor?
Sponsoring our event, either financial, with services or as an exhibitor, is an excellent and unique opportunity - unique in the space sector in the UK, in the opportunity of using a high-profile public space, and an event that has a novelty factor for the public.
Sponsoring the event will access thousands of people, from the general public, families, students and people travelling to see the event, and conference delegates in Manchester for the Europea City of Science 2016.
The event also has an international element, so teams from around the world will be travelling home with artifacts from the event, such as the event T-shirts, with your name and logo, or possibly even a prize named after you, spreading the event of your sponsorship across the world.
Mars Society UKThe event creator is Rob Adlard, chairman of the Mars Society UK. Rob is invovled in developing the space economy in the UK with a background in marketing, business and engineering.

For sponsorship amounts over £250, we will offer 50% off one of the exhibitor packages if you wish to take up that opportunity too. To clarify, if you sponsor £250, you will receive the logo benefits online, print and T-shirt, the advertising banner on the Mars Yard, plus for a fee of 50% of the exhibition fee you can have an exhibition stand, so that's £100 for the small stand, and £150 for the larger - a total spend for you of either £350, or £400.
