Trae Day(Hip Hop Festival) ,

Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States

  • About the event

The office of African American Student Services and RTP is seeking sponsorship to help fund the first Hip Hop Festival as an annual fundraiser for student scholarships.

    MISSION STATEMENT

    AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT SERVICES

The African American Student Services program at the University of New Mexico provides culturally relevant programs designed to assist primarily African American students in making confident transitions and successful adjustments to the University of New Mexico.

    ROUND TABLE PROMOTIONS (RTP)

Round Table Promotions is a student organization dedicated to promoting Black student and community events at the University of New Mexico. We promote various events throughout the year and work to engage Black students and community through social and cultural activities. In addition, Round Table Promotions brings exciting, diverse, and multicultural groups to perform and energize areas that lack exposure to the world of music.

WHAT IS THE HIP HOP FESTIVAL?

The Hip Hop Festival will serve as a social event during Black History Month. The goal is to introduce the city of Albuquerque to a culturally diverse atmosphere through various hiphop artists. The festival will include artists, local vendors, and community organizations that support the academic, cultural, and social advancement of students and the greater Albuquerque community members. The Hip Hop Festival will then serve as the closing event to Black History Month with hopes of becoming an annual signature event.

    GOALS

    1. Raise money to support scholarships for the upcoming fiscal year.

    2. Foster an environment in which student leaders work together to put on an

      annual mainstream event.

    3. Introduce the city of Albuquerque to a culturally diverse atmosphere

      through hiphop artists.

    4. Grow the Hip Hop Festival into a premiere event that will promote

community for Black students and the greater UNM community.
