We all have one; we spend so much time choosing them, so much money purchasing them and not nearly enough time wearing them!
The premise of The Wedding Dress Ball is to provide you with the opportunity to give a second life to that beautiful frock which has (more than likely) been hiding away since it's big day. We think these dresses deserve a second chance to make you feel like a princess once again. So we're inviting you to dig them out, dust them off, squeeze back into them (if like me you've got a little slack since it's last outing!) and join us for an opulent night of dancing, dining and fundraising for a wonderful local charity.
We realise that not everyone has been a bride so the invite is not restrictive; we're fully encouraging bridesmaids dresses, ball gowns, prom dresses and wedding outfits too. Gentlemen are welcome to wear a dress aswell, but should that not appeal, they're asked to don their top hat and tails, three piece suits or tuxedos to party the night away with their partners!
The Leah Wilby Foundation (UK Registered Charity Number 1146160) is a Great Yarmouth based charity that provides holiday accommodation for families supporting those suffering from childhood cancers.
Since it was launched in September 2011 the Foundation has raised enough money to purchase a mobile home (and subsequently a more recent model) which they call Leah's Lounge. Situated on the Haven Seashore Holiday Camp in Great Yarmouth, the charity covers the pitch fees, electric, water and all associated costs of Leah's Lounge to offer much needed respite and time together for almost 60 families to date.
At The Wedding Dress Ball we are hoping to raise enough money to cover the charity's costs for an entire year through ticket sales, a raffle, auction and a few other surprises.
