About the event

This event is all about the residents at Community Village and all proceeds made from The Saturday Swing goes to Community Village.This specific home for the aged is run by Saginaw's Rescue Ministries, meaning a lot of the residents have low income or none at all (a few were even homeless before being taken in by the Village). After getting to know the people here and loving each individual person, I decided to start The Saturday Swing. Specifically, in the spirit of Christmas, I wanted to be able to get each resident a gift to open for the holidays. This worked out greatly last year - I raised $4,000 for Community Village! But, I want the second annual Saturday Swing to be even more successful for the residents so I can give them more than just Christmas gifts. They deserve it more than anyone I know and your support would be greatly appreciated!! Everyone deserves a gift on Christmas.

Why should you sponsor?

This event changed Community Village for the better. The residents have something to look forward to. The day after I delivered gifts to them the first year I put on The Saturday Swing, they were telling me what they wanted for next Christmas! Things as simple as socks, t-shirts, or underwear were on their lists. They are so humble and enjoy the little things in life. Allowing them to have a gift to open on Christmas (and maybe even more if I can raise more money this year with your help) :))

Money to put on this event is always helpful, but last year, my silent auction was very successful in raising money for the residents. If your business would rather donate a gift package to be raffled off at the event, that would be just as wonderful! 

All sponsors names will appear on thank-you's and the volunteer's t-shirts.

Unfortuantely, since I am personally putting on this fundraiser for Community Village, I cannot provide a tax deductible for any business who chooses to sponsor The Saturday Swing.

Lindsey Mead

My name is Lindsey Mead and this is the second year I will be putting on The Saturday Swing for the elderly residents at Community Village - a local home for the aged in my community (Saginaw, MI). I have volunteered at Community Village for about three years now and the resdients here have completely stole my heart. Volunteering with them is my passion and is what drove me to begin this event in the first place. I am a freshman in college and am pursuing law, hopefully to work with the elderly in that field.
