The Overnight Walk for Suicide Prevention,

Boston, Massachusetts, United States Boston, Massachusetts, United States

  • About the event

I lost my sister to suicide on September 20, 2014. I want to walk in her memory on June 27th, 2015. She suffered from depression and bipolar disorder, which is what took my sister away from me and my family. Not many people know what a mental illness can do for a person, and I want to help raise awareness so that people can get help before it's too late. The walk is 16-18 mile walk done over the course of one night. I cannot participate unless I raise a minimum of $1000. In the month and a half that I have been fundraising trying to raise money I have only raised about $158. This is my last resort. This is something I am very passionate about. I want to help those that are in my sisters shoes. All the money earned will go to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to help fun programs for school children to learn about mental health issues and when to get help, it helps with people who cannot afford to get the help that they need, it also helps in the training of professionals to be able to deal with a case of a suicide attempt and suicide intervention, among so many other amazing things. Please take this into consideration as this is such an amazing cause.
