The Interview Project,

Manhattan, New York, New York, United States Manhattan, New York, New York, United States

  • About the event

"The Interview Project" was created to help individuals become well equipped with the indispensable life skill, Interviewing. By nature we communicate in our daily lives, some knowing how to do it effectively and others who do not, instantly taking them out of the running for success. At "The Interview project" they will learn appropriate methods of explanation and expression and also making the right choices in doing so. With your sponsorship your company will help the patrons of this event to remain or to become more conscious about decisions for the betterment of ones self.

    Why should you sponsor?

Everyone wants to be able to get ahead in life, but not everyone has been fortunate enough to have the skills and knowledge necessary for advancement. Interviewing is an indispensable life skill that everyone should have the access to and knowledge of. By sponsoring "The Interview Project" you are equipping individuals with what should be basic knowledge and giving them the opportunity to have a fighting chance in todays extrememly competetive society where the more you know the better off you can be. All donations no matter how big or small is going to a great cause, when we know better we do better, I want to make sure that we all know better for the hope that one day we can and will all do better.

    Brittany Jacobs

One day I noticed that I was being bombarded by friends and other individuals in regard to job interviews. Some of the questions asked were - How should I dress? What are the best questions to ask the interviewer? Are questions even allowed?

It has now been three years since I have been out of college and I have gone on several interviews, so I thought these questions were common knowledge, but I was wrong. When preparing myself for job interviews I had run the gamut on a list of things to do before even considering myself ready. A few things done to prepare were, tailoring my resume and cover letter, researching the company and role, and lastly preparing questions in order to fully understand the need of the role I am interviewing for and to learn more about the company.

So I thought to myself, “If I can go into an interview fully prepared and versed with some understanding about the company, I may have a higher chance of gaining the role.” I believe the same knowledge and amount of effort that is required should be known by everyone – looking at it as indispensable skills needed in life to be successful. Interviewing is something we doing in our everyday lives, even if we do not know it, it’s being able to communicate appropriately and effectively.

Effective communication is something we learn from birth and should advance as we do with age. If this is the case, then why are some High Schools and even some colleges not teaching this as a key part of their curriculum? Providing students with effective communication skills would assist in preparing them for the future. All of these thoughts sparked an idea within me, if these crucial lessons are not being taught in schools and are expected to be known when stepping into the real world, there is a piece missing and I’m here to help fill that gap.

I’m hoping that whomever I am able to reach will be open to helping me as a sponsor to introduce my first workshop, “The Interview Project (T.I.P) by Brittany Jacobs”. This workshop entails a full day of learning and activities from current industry professionals geared towards perfecting skills such as, Resume and Cover Letter writing and editing, Interview Preparation, Learning Appropriate Presentation, Right and Wrong Interview Questions, Recognizing the Importance of Interviewing, how to Dress Without Breaking the Bank, and Walking Into and Out of the Interview Room with the Confidence needed to be the best fit for any role!
