About the event
This is a series of events covering the journey home from Hawaii to Scotland of the 140-year-old tall ship, 'Falls of Clyde to Scotland where she was built.
She is to be rebuilt to become an example of Scottish Heritage and engineering innovation and skills today. She will have Hydrogen power, Solar Sails, Wind Turbines and electric battery banks.
Each event celebrates her heritage as a historic vessel but also brings to the public attention how heritage and communities can work together for a common good.
Why should you sponsor?
Once rebuilt she will become a carbon-free vessel, offering education at sea, carry fairtrade cargo, offer sail adventure holidays, offer sail cadet training and become a collector and recycler of ocean plastic waste. Marine ecology and protection is an important part of this project.
She will offer communities across the U.K. and the rest of the world, the opportunity to have the adventure of a lifetime, in exchange for volunteering in their local community helping others. We will support these volunteers and offer assistance to get them to look at new long-term careers and offer scholarships for further education.
You will be part of a global news series of events covering up to 700m viewers at each stop.
You will become associated with a heritage, community, new technology, environmental and educational programme that will be under the spotlight around the globe for its innovation and aspirational philanthropy.
David O'NeillWe are a community inspired group from the Glasgow Gorbals district, currently, we work on projects that promote the community spirit of the Gorbals and are working to preserve, restore and regenerate the heritage of our part of Glasgow.
We also fundraise annually to help the neediest cases in our society today, we work with the 3rd sector, schools and work independently of local councils, seeking no financial support there. Like the ship, we do not believe that the public purse should always be the first step in helping communities.
