The F Word,

The Edinburgh Fringe, Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom The Edinburgh Fringe, Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

  • About the event

Rethink Productions create relevant, exciting and relatable work with and for young adults, reflecting the world around us through truthful storytelling.

We aim to provide socially relevant and engaging response workshops with our work, giving audiences a change to engage with our productions and the themes they present.

Our premier theatre show, “The F Word”, is a comedy drama exploring the wonder of teenage friendship and youthful positivity, even when the odds are set against you. We follow the friendship of two teenagers, one of whom is dying of terminal cancer. This isn't a story about death. It’s a story about life, friendship and a funeral. Although multiple characters appear in the play, it is intended as a 2 parter, with the actor playing Tommy multi-rolling on a platform with a mic stand when needed. The characters which are multi-rolled by Tommy aims to show the importance of Tommy to Jacob, and that he has been there through all of the ups and downs of Jacob’s cancer. This is a play concentrated on their friendship and need for each other, Jacob’s cancer is simply an unfortunate addition to their lives.

Alongside the production we intend to run free workshops exploring how to start conversations about male health and male mental health, facilitated by the cast and creatives of the show.

    Why should you sponsor?

This is a unique endevor where we are promoting the discussions of male health in an open and relatable manor.

We are also advocating discussing male health which is needed currently.

    Conor Hunt

Andrew Pellett and Conor Hunt, both coming from the National Theatre New Works and National Theatre Learning respectively, have formed Rethink Productions, a new company focused on creating and nurturing, new voices, talent and work.

We want to create a platform for open conversations to take place and know this can be established through theatre and outreach workshops.
