The Alaska Gold Project,

About the event

This July our crew will be meeting in Juneau, Alaska. We will be gathering our gear and hopping in a helicopter to fly out to an extremely remote, untouched location. This area is surrounded by ice fields, glaciers and sheer mountains.

For two to three weeks we will be prospecting this virgin territory. We will be using sluice boxes, gold pans, rock picks, shovels, and whatever else we can haul in the helicopter.

Since we will be so remote and we will only be able to bring what the helicopter can carry, expect to watch a production about finding gold the old fashioned way.

We will be filming our production on location. Utilizing video cameras, sunglass cameras and an aerial drone, expect to see breathtaking views of unimaginable landscape, watch through our eyes as we pull gold from the streams and experience what we endure first hand. Tony Gates, our host, accompanied by our camera man Coty Maxwell, will be visiting us as we work our operation. They will go over what we are doing, why and how. Myself (Wade Hoek), Dwayne Hoek and Beau Weaver will be working hard to find gold.

Will there be danger? Well, this is avalanche country. This is Alaska grizzly bear country. We will be extremely remote and we won't be readily accessible. Our communication with the world will be limited, and if there is an accident or one of our crew is mauled by a grizzly bear, if the weather is bad we can't expect to be retrieved.

At the end of our journey we will have phenomenal footage which we will compile into both a documentary showing exactly how we prospected, and a reality show (no excess Hollywood drama).

In our documentary you will see how we define the gold line, how we remove quartz from huge veins on the mountain faces, and how we crush it to check and see if it contains gold. You will know how to use a gold pan, how to use a sluice box and how to prospect for yourself.Our reality show will contain the day-to-day excitement of being on location experiencing what we endure. Through our glasses, you will see through our eyes. Through our cameras you will see what we experience. Through our aerial drone you will experience pristine, unimaginable landscapes.

This will not be a Hollywood production. We are not looking to create drama for entertainment. Our vision is to bring you a pure production, a real production, a real adventure that is so pure it doesn't need us to pry into personal drama. If by chance you see a few practical jokes or a little drama, remember that we are a small group of guys in the middle of nowhere that do enjoy a bit of humor. But it won't be for your benefit, it will be because we just felt like doing something crazy.

In the end you will be dazzled with adventure. You will know how to operate basic prospecting equipment. You will know us as you will spend weeks getting to know who we are. You will share our morning coffee, our long hikes into the wilderness, and our campfires in the evening.
