-Healthcare Sectors- Program Overview: This program features 15-20 lightning pitches, from pre-venture and early-stage Life Science and Medical Device companies. Each pitching company will have 5 minutes to impress our investors with their value proposition, followed by a 3-minute Q&A session. There will also be a networking event afterward, with plenty of opportunities to meet with investors. Judges and Investors: 1. Mr.Steven Du Mr.Steven Du is experienced in the Pharmaceutical industry and clinical trial. He is the founder and CEO of Long Pharmaceuticals (www.linkedin.com/company/long-pharmaceuticals). He used to work for Genzyme as the global safety officer, for AMAG Pharmaceuticals as the senior director, and for KV Pharmaceuticals for the associate director and head. 2. Mr. Xiongwei Zhou Mr. Xiongwei Zhou is the founder of the Boston Angel Club (BAC), a Boston-based investment company. He has over 20 years of work and investment experience in the United States and has an in-depth understanding of the development of new technologies in the Greater Boston area. BAC invests in early-stage high-tech startups, serves as an incubator, and facilitates cross-border investment and transnational M&As. 3. Mr. Rohan Liu Mr. Rohan Liu is the partner of the Close A Ventures, a financial institution in China that involves angel investing, financial advisory for startups and M&A, as well as helping international companies find strategic partners in China. Rohan was the chief representative of the Royal Capital. Before that, he used to be the vice president of the ZD-Capital. The company’s lead effort is an autologous cell therapy for addressing the heavy unmet need in relapsing-remitting T cell lymphoma. 10. Puddingstone Place: Puddingstone Place provides world-renowned programming developed at Boston Children’s Hospital to enhance communication, support behavioral changes, and improve overall quality of life for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. 12. Sympal: A clear aligner company hoping to disrupt the orthodontic industry. SymTray straightens teeth, improves the patient`s facial profile, reducing sleep apnea and snoring and opening up airway, all non-surgically. Patients prefer clear aligners over braces and care about a better face structure more than just straight teeth. 13. TheraB Medical: TheraB Medical is the creator of SnugLit- the first completely wearable solution for infant jaundice designed with over 200 moms and nurses. The company is actively seeking the first round of funding to make it through the FDA approval process as a Class II 510(k) device. The Competition : The program includes a start-ups competition, held by Chinese Ningbo bio-industrial park, with the collaboration of Boston Angel Club (VC) and the Sino-US Cross Border Alliance. There will be five judges to comment and grade your presentations and projects. The top 10 pitches win the competition and can attend the final round in China if they desire. The Ningbo park will reimburse part of the travel fees. There will be 40 startups participating in the final round, and the top 10 will receive the following rewards, upon settling down at the park. 1. $434,000 cash grant; 2. rent compensation of a 10,700 sq.ft office space; 3. upon raising another round, the park will provide another cash grant worth 30 percent of the money raised; 4. upon receiving the Class III medical device license in China, the park will provide an additional $290,000 cash grant and other compensations. 1) If you want to participate in the lightning pitches please order the 'Startups Presentation' ticket for free and fill out the brief application form here.
