Background-
Just a month ago I created a unique group - "NYC/NJ Cocktail hour - Indian Hobnob". This group is a social mixer for making new friends or meeting known friends, dating, and professional networking. This is a member approved group only for people of Indian heritage to mingle, connect and celebrate various get-together/festivals together. There are singles, in-relationship, couples, professionals, students and self employed Indians within the age group of 21 to 49 years. Being abroad and away from home these members are looking for opportunities to form an Indian like-minded network and connect to that feeling of home.
I plan events in a nice relaxing ambient bar/location in NYC or New Jersey that allows conversations to flow and to pull Indian crowd from both sides of the Hudson river. My events also include catching up on movies, watching bollywood music/shows or attending Indian/national festivals as a group!
I am a confidant communicator with outgoing, fun, enthusiastic and creative personality and also have the intuitive ability to inspire people to socialize. I work for a luxury fashion house in NYC and have successfully driven fun PR events over 3.5 years.
As of today I have almost 140 approved registered members (and growing each day) within a span of 4 weeks since the date of inception of this group. I have completed 3 events so far, kicked off the first event with 10 attendees. The 3rd event on last weekend had 35 attendees. I have received very positive feedback from the attendees and have been encouraged to have many more events in the near future. They have expressed their happiness to have found their “kick” at my event’s uniqueness streamlined to their needs. Most other Indian events that they have been to; lacks one-on-one conversation of people with diversified interests and inability of the organizer to gel people together such that the socializing purpose of the event is overlooked! Based on my events pictures and follow-up emails consisting of the event synopsis, the non-attendees reached out to me as well mentioning how super excited they are to attend my next event.
I come from Indian roots and heritage (with my family overseas) and can resonate to the needs of Indian people living away from home! Our conversations revolves around work life, schooling system in US, good restaurants to try around, vacation or tourists places to visit in India/US/worldwide, must try bars around, cool movies to watch, good apartment rentals, travel plans, upcoming festivals and shows, best places to shop Indian ethnic wear & jewelry, childhood memories, latest smart apps on phone, technology etc....simply share your thoughts in your native language if one feels so! As an organizer I ensure that people are continuously engaged in their topics of interest with high energy levels!
Event details-
My next event is scheduled on Sept 25th, 2015 in a classy ambient NYC midtown bar with an expected headcount of at least 30 people (with another week to go I anticipate more people for this event). I would like to provide complementary finger food appetizers and one round of drinks to my event’s attendees. I believe this would be a great conversation starter since it is a big group.
Based on my past experiences with luxury fashion house fun PR events in NYC, I am very familiar with sponsorship and their promotion mission and techniques (the ‘why’ & ‘how’ of promotion efforts).
Looking forward to you being a part of my passion driven events! :)
