About the event

The Tennis Ball & Tournament is a two-day, signature fundraising event for Visually Impaired Preschool Services, Kentucky's only agency that provides critical early intervention services to young children who are blind or visually impaired.  The weekend kicks off with the Tennis Ball, an fun and elegant evening of dinner, auctions and dancing.  The following day, doubles teams compete on the courts in a sold-out tournament.  The Tennis Ball & Tournament was awarded the USTA-Southern Charity Event of the Year in 2016.  

Why should you sponsor?

Sponsors of the VIPS Tennis Ball & Tournament can be assured that their dollars are being used in the most thoughtful, purposeful way.  This signature event for VIPS, based in Louisville, KY, raises important funds that will pay for teachers to provide early intervention services to children, birth to 5, who are blind or visually impaired.  These services are extremely critical, given that 70-80% of what a person learns is through their visual pathways.  For children with vision loss, it is absolutely necessary that they are provided with a program that can help them piece their world together so that they can develop at a typical rate and, ultimately, compete equally with their sighted peers in the future.

Sponsors will receive recognition prior, during and following the event, but will also have the opportunity to engage their employees in a unique local cause.  Volunteer opportunities are available throughout this two-day event, in addition to other opportunities at VIPS that are not connected to the Tennis Ball & Tournament.

Visually Impaired Preschool Services (VIPS) empowers families by providing educational excellence to young children with visual impairments in order to build a strong foundation for reaching their highest potential.  Today VIPS is a statewide agency in Kentucky and Indiana with a total annual budget of $2.4 million. In fact, in fiscal year 2016/2017, we served 526 children from birth to five years of age and their families. Our teachers and interventionists drove nearly 137,000 miles to provide direct services to young children with blindness/low vision.  VIPS was the first and continues to be the only nonprofit agency in Kentucky and Indiana providing vision-specific services to this population of children.
