About the event
TEDxYouth@TimberlineHS is basically a TED conference that has been put on at a local level. We are an independently organized TEDx event operating under a license given to us by TED Conferences LLC. The theme for this event is "Blind Spots".
All of us have Blind Spots, whether it’s the point of entry of the optic nerve on the retina that’s insensitive to light, or an area in which a person lacks understanding or impartiality.
It makes a person wonder, what have we really been missing out on? What ideas, perspectives, and innovation are we truly missing because we’re so blindsided, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally? The theme of TEDxYouth@TimberlineHS 2017 is Blind Spots, where we’ll be exploring what unfolds when we learn to think outside of the box and are exposed to the “other side” of things that we are usually blindsided by.
Why should you sponsor?
TEDxYouth@TimberlineHS is a not-for-profit event organized by the Timberline High School Student Body. All in-kind donations and revenue generated from sponsorships go directly toward our production, venue, and marketing costs.
TED is an annual event that brings together the world's leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter in any discipline — technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business, development. The talks at the conference, called TED Talks, are then made available to watch for free on TED.com.
In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED has created TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connections. Our TEDx event is not organized by TED Conferences, but is operated under a license from TED.
TEDxYouth@TimberlineHS is the very first TEDx event in Thurston County to be run and operated by the Timberline High School student body, and we hope that you'll join us in promoting thoughtful discussion among the youth in Thurston County.
Aditi KumarMy name is Aditi Kumar and I am the lead organizer of TEDxYouth@TimberlineHS and the official event licensee. I am also the event coordinator, responsible for raising money to help make TEDxYouth a success.
