A TEDx event is an independently organized local gathering where live TED-like talks and videos previously recorded at TED conferences are shared with the community. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis, under a free license granted by TED. The content and design of each TEDx event is unique and developed independently, but all of them have features in common.
TEDxUniversityOfAberdeen is focussed on the community of students and staff of the University with the number of attendees limited to 100. The speakers will be a mix of researchers, private businesses and public services while featuring one student speaker (chosen after a competition). At the evening of the 12th of February several talks will be held with plenty of breaks for the audience to engage in conversation and enjoy some drinks and snacks. TEDx events are designed to inspire and encourage discussions.
The theme for the upcoming TEDx event is “Reframing & Shifting Perspectives” which focuses on assessing a variety of modern issues from fresh perspectives. For example, how context alters the meanings of messages in conversations or how the recent slump in oil prices can encourage new refreshing integration of ideas.
