TAMPA, FL - The Tampa Bay Sports Commission (TBSC), in conjunction with Adventure Island® and the Event Development Institute, are proud to announce the fourth installment of the Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon (TBKT). Set for Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 7:15 a.m., the TBKT affords participants the opportunity to run, bike, and swim in and around Busch Gardens’® premier water park, Adventure Island.
Kids ages 6-10 (junior varsity division) and 11-14 (varsity division) are eligible to participate. The first 450 registrations will receive a complimentary, race-day ‘Stay and Play’ ticket to Adventure Island. Participants will also collect a race-day ‘Swag Bag’, which will include an Under Armour T-shirt. All competitors will be given a finisher’s medal upon completion of the race. The top three in each category will earn a trophy and an additional Adventure Island ticket to recognize their achievement.
Additionally, all on-site participants will have the chance to enter and win a youth ‘Specialized’ brand children’s road bike, courtesy of Cycle Sports Concepts. Cycle Sports Concepts will also serve as the official bike technicians for this USA Triathlon sanctioned event, with timing manufactured by Run 4 A Cause.
“We’re pleased to partner with Adventure Island on one of the nation’s premier youth triathlons, the Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon,” said Rob Higgins, Executive Director of the TBSC. “From the swim taking place in the park’s lazy river, Rambling Bayou, to the entertainment Adventure Island and Busch Gardens are providing, we’re confident year three will be the best yet.”
