About the event

The First Edition of Summer Cup 2019 will commence on April 22nd, 2019 at the Don Bosco Football Turf Ground in Matunga, Mumbai. The high calibre, competitive tournament takes place through the week and climaxes with a finals day followed by a closing ceremony with the presentation of trophies. A tournament focusing on development of football at the grassroots level, Summer Cup will set the ball rolling for young players in Mumbai.

Kenkre Football Club has been able to put together an excellent platform by providing players from a very young age a stage to play competitive football. Summer Cup is a well organized tournament where a wholesome experience can be gained by the players and also the spectators who come in good numbers to support these budding footballers.

The most important and crucial aspect of the tournament remains the active participation of parents and others who gather in sizeable crowds to encourage the youngsters and provide good support.

Starting from 22nd April, the tournament promises to have more exciting days of football for the players and fans, as we will closely monitor the day to day highlights. There are several reasons which make Summer as one of the most anticipated tournaments across the city, particularly among the young football enthusiasts in the city of Mumbai.

Kenkre is looking to develop budding footballers in the country, by giving them a platform to showcase their talent, such as the Summer Cup and the recently concluded Go Green Cup and Kenkre Champions League. These have a more professional and thorough approach towards the development of football across the city.

Sir Adiba Krishna Sinai Kenkre has been actively involved in youth development and also associated with professional soccer in India, he always felt that we needed to develop the overall standard of soccer at the grassroot level so that India can continually generate quality soccer players who can compete and win at the international level. To cater to this need, Kenkre Football Club was born in 2000.

His goal is to inspire as many youngsters as possible to play the beautiful game by imparting his love and passion for the game. Since his earlier coaching days at Don Bosco, Matunga, he realised the need to tap and nurture talented youngsters, while at the same time keeping them focused on a soccer career. The Club was formed with the intention of showcasing those talents, produced through an Academy structure, that are believed to be the new crop of Indian soccer players. Thus, the Club is the fruition of all the hard work and dedication put into the Academy. In a short duration, the Club has managed to achieve outstanding results and gain consecutive promotions to compete in the Elite league in Mumbai.
