About the event
Sugar City Con is held on August 13 & 14 2016.
The event is dedicated to bringing pop culture to the cane fields, providing an avenue for locals to have access to industry professionals across the gaming, comic book, publishing, and anime industries. Cosplay (costumed play) is one of the highlights of pop culture conventions, with attendees having the opportunity to dress-up as their favourite pop culture character. From people dressing up to have fun, to professional cosplayers, Sugar City Con is the place to go to see an amazing array of people in costume.
Why should you sponsor?
Joel CoxSugar City Con was started in 2014 by a dedicated group of pop culture lovers who wanted to bring a pop culture event to Mackay. With a committee of volunteers giving their time to plan and deliver the event, the not-for-profit committee has delivered two successful conventions that have grown each time.
In 2015, Sugar City Con had international guests for the first time, including female comic book pioneer, Becky Cloonan, who had never been to an Australia before.
Sugar City Con has achieved a lot in two years, and is looking forward to another great year in 2016.

The art contest is open to all art styles. In the lead up to the Sugar City Con, we will be hosting an art opening in an Artists Space here in Mackay, where for the week leading up to the event all art submitted will be on public display. All the art will then be moved to the Convention Hall ready for the Sugar City Con. The Sponsor of a category will have direct naming rights for that specific category. It will also include: - All Social Media exposure through the Sugar City Con social pipes - Name up in lights on all LED screens around the convention - Signage at the convention and artist area prior to the event - Brand and info printed in the Sugar City Con booklet - Any media presence regarding the art contest you will be mentioned as a naming category sponsor (Radio/TV/Online/Print) - Mentioned and linked from the Sugar City Con website so either your website or social pipes. - Thanked through our Sugar City Con Vod/Podcast Your sponsorship dollars will be divided into the 3 categories as the cash prize.
