About the event
Parents Of Murdered Children (POMC) is the only national self-help organization designed solely to offer surviving family members emotional support, information and advocacy specific to homicide. Founded in 1978, POMC has national offices in Phoenix, Arizona and Cincinnati, OH and we currently have over 60 chapters and 100 contact people throughout the United States including the Valley of the Sun.
On Saturday, May 16, 2015, POMC is hosting our second annual "Strike Out Violence," bowling fundraiser. We expect 200+ bowlers who will enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of music, OJ, raffle and silent auction. With your help we can make our event a resounding success!
Consider these facts:
• In 2013, there was a murder every 28 hours and 57 minutes in Arizona according to OPS State Crime Report; and
• In Arizona, it is estimated approximately 1100 family members were directly impacted by homicide and nationally over 49,000 family members' lives are forever changed.
Your gift of a raffle and/or silent auction item is needed to help us raise critical funds. AU in-kind gifts and/or financial contributions will help POMC provide services including:
• Ongoing emotional support which includes critical short and long-term support;
• Parole Block Program (PBP): Preventing murderer's from gaining early release;
• Second Opinion Services (SOS): Reviewing cold cases and unsolved cases;
• Court accompaniment: Attending court with survivors and case assistance;
• Community Education: Training for community groups, criminal justice professionals, medical professionals, etc., on the issues faced by survivors; and
• Annual National Conference: Provides opportunity for families to gather for workshops, speakers, and support.
