Eugenio "Monster" Jones - Mr. Monster Motorsports
Eugenio "Monster" Jones, of "Mr. Monster Motorsports", had his first racing experience at Aquasco Speedway with his late Uncle, James “Big Butch” Hawkins in 1969. He continued traveling with his uncle as part of the crew until May 25 1988, when Monster made his first hit in the driver’s seat at the Bill Lanes Inaugural Metro Area Racers Event – Maryland International Raceway (aka Budds Creek). This opportunity was at the urging of his uncle who wanted Monster to stop racing on the street because the track was much safer for everyone. Monster’s uncle, Butch, passed away in 2004; Monster continued racing the rear engine dragster, passed on to him by his uncle, as much as his work schedule would allow until 2009. Monster then started promoting drag races and has had the opportunity to promote races at Maryland International Raceway, Virginia Motorsports Park, Capitol Raceway, Colonial Beach Dragway, and Fayetteville Motorsports Park. As a successful promoter, Mr. Monster Motorsports events are well known up and down the east coast and draw well over 2,000 attendees and 400 cars per event.
