    Why should you sponsor?

Open Arms 101 is a nonprofit organization that provides outreach programs for the elderly. Last year, we began our journey of creating smiles and changing lives by providing care packages to the elderly of much-needed items at three senior facilities that we have partnered with. In no uncertain terms, we have been told that our holiday care package giveaway program offered hope to the elderly who felt that they were forgotten. This has enlightened us to just how important our fundraising efforts really are to help us continue to expand our program and partner with more facilities to bring a smile and hope to those who feel forgotten. Our plan is to add a food distribution program to service the elderly who are suffering from food insecurity due to living in a food desert, being unable to get around to shop for groceries due to a disability, or lacking the income to purchase groceries. Our other planned programs include transportation to and from doctor visits and outings to events, such as baseball games, museums, the zoo, and more.

We are jointly hosting this fundraiser with our nonprofit partner organization, Kabod House International. Kabod House International provides outreach services to the homeless in the Chicagoland area. They offer programs such as the Fill the Purse Project where they provide purses to homeless women filled with feminine hygiene products; the Fill the Backpack Project where they provide backpacks to homeless men filled with personal care products; and, the Koats4Kids Warm Winter Project where they provide Winter coats to foster care and homeless kids at a local elementary school located in Harvey, Illinois. Kabod House International, in a collaborative partnership with Open Arms 101, is planning to expand its programs to include making it possible for the homeless to get a shower, clean clothes, and blood pressure and blood sugar checks bi-weekly through a new outreach program that will also serve senior citizens who are homeless. And, a program for giving toys for Christmas to the homeless and foster care kids at the elementary school in Harvey, Illinois.
